Recovery Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) allotted more than $11 billion for the Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program. Funds were distributed through these projects:

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants Program (EECBG) received $3.2 billion from the Recovery Act. States, local governments, Indian tribes, and U.S. territories can obtain formula block grants to improve energy efficiency and install renewable energy systems. Read the Funding Opportunity Announcement ^{UPDATED !} (PDF 749 KB) for the formula-grant portion of the program under the Recovery Act. A Request for Information (RFI) has just been released on September 14, 2009 for feedback on the planned funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for the competitive block grants for up to $454 million. This RFI will be open until September 28, 2009 and solicits feedback from stakeholders of the EECBG program for this planned funding opportunity. A FOA is planned to be released in the early Fall of 2009 with projects awarded in Spring 2010.
Weatherization Assistance Program
The Weatherization Assistance Program received $5 billion from the Recovery Act to expedite the weatherization of low-income homes. Learn more about these activities. State Energy Program
The State Energy Program received $3.1 billion from the Recovery Act for additional grants that do not require matching state funds. More information on these grants will be available soon.
